Wine-Specific Conditions
Age Requirement
You must be 21 years of age or older to order or receive alcoholic beverages from Brian Carter Cellars. Receipt of shipments containing alcoholic beverages requires the signature of a sober adult (a person 21 years of age or older who is not intoxicated). Wines purchased from Brian Carter Cellars are not for resale and are for personal consumption only.
Payment
Orders are by credit card only. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. No minimum purchase is required.
States Authorized for Direct Shipment
Due to the ever-changing nature of wine shipping laws, we may be able to ship wines, directly or indirectly, to all states except AR, CT, DE, IN, KY, ME, MS, NE, NJ, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, and WV.
Shipping
UPS Ground is our carrier of choice, provided at current market rates. If you select UPS 2nd Day Air or UPS Next Day Air, you pay all shipping charges regardless of wine club membership or purchase amount.
Wine is a Delicate Commodity
Wine is perishable and does not like extremes of temperature. Hot humid summers and cold winter weather may adversely affect the condition of your wine during shipment.
To protect the quality of your wine, we will hold a shipment when it looks like the wine would be subject to temperatures above 80°F or below 40°F for more than three days. If you would rather not wait, we can expedite shipping for an additional charge, or send the wine at your own risk at your direction.
Please be mindful of extreme temperatures across the shipping route when you order. We recommend three-day shipping for anyone on the East Coast or in the southern United States during periods of extreme heat or cold. Once your order is picked up by the common carrier for delivery, responsibility for the wine becomes yours.
Abandoned Wine
Purchased wine must be collected within one year of the purchase date. We will make reasonable attempts to notify you of any purchased wine awaiting collection, and we can arrange shipment at your cost if that is easier for you. Wine that has not been collected within one year of purchase will be considered abandoned, and Brian Carter Cellars may use it for charitable donations without further notice or refund.
